The Trip Trap ® is potted into a weatherproof, hermetically sealed epoxy package. It can easily be mounted to the outer surface of any electrical enclosure, or to an internal panel within the enclosure. The mounting process has six simple steps:

(1) Drill three #25 holes on 38mm (1.5 inch) centers with the #25 twist drill included with every Trip Trap. Enlarge the center hole to 6.35mm (1/4 inch) with the included drill bit. The instruction sheet has a mounting template printed on the back of the sheet.

(2) Thread the electrical leads through the center hole, press the base of the Trip Trap against the panel or outer surface of the enclosure, and screw it into place with the enclosed thread forming screws and washers.

(3) Connect the two electrical leads across the interlock switch to be monitored. It does not matter which lead goes to which side of the switch, even for DC units. The polarity is sorted out internally.

(4) After all Trip Traps have been mounted into a system, press the red "reset" button on each one. They are now ready to trap the next shutdown status. You can verify this by pressing the green "view" button on each Trip Trap.

(5) After the next shutdown, press the green "view" button on each Trip Trap. One of them should read "trapped". This is the Trip Trap connected across the interlock switch that opened FIRST, shutting down the system.

(6) Press the red "reset" button to return a Trip Trap from the "trapped" condition to the "ready" condition.

Figure 1

The base of the Trip Trap measures 90 mm by 30 mm (3.54 by 1.18 inches), and the distance from the mounting surface to the top of the indicator LEDs is 22 mm (0.87 inches). The AWG #22 electrical leads are 350 mm (13.8 inches) long.
